We aim to provide a platform where relevant, real-life learning takes place across Music, Dance, and Drama—interweaving curriculum and co-curricular opportunities to make Performing Arts an integral part of our school culture. Performing Arts is divided into three core academic subjects:
Music
Music offers a wide range of academic and practical experiences across all year levels.
- In Year 9, students can specialise in Rock, Chamber, Guitar, Keyboard, Big Band, Symphonic Band, Performing Arts, and Voice classes, alongside selecting Music as an Option Subject.
- From Years 10 to 13, students choose between Contemporary Music or Music Performance pathways.
- Our Music Tuition Programme allows students to take instrumental, vocal, or music technology lessons during school hours, taught by expert itinerant tutors.
Dance
Dance uses kinaesthetic learning and physical activity to explore artistic ideas.
- It is primarily a practical subject, supported by relevant theoretical knowledge.
- Students learn a variety of styles including Jazz, Hip Hop, Social Dance, Musical Theatre, Cultural and Contemporary Dance.
- They also develop choreography skills and collaborate on both group and solo performances.
Drama
Drama blends performance skills with dramaturgical learning in a collaborative environment.
- From Year 9 to Year 13, students explore theatre forms such as mime, movement, improvisation, devising, and scripted work.
- Senior students also study technical aspects like lighting, costume, and set design.
- Drama fosters self-confidence and communication skills that benefit students across other subjects, especially in presentation-based tasks.
