Training Times
Most teams train once a week in the morning or afternoons. Trainings are based on the availability of gyms and coaches.

Rangitoto College proudly embraces a culture of inclusivity and excellence in basketball, fielding 27 teams in 2023 with over 290 enthusiastic students participating. Our basketball program accommodates everyone, from social players to highly competitive athletes, ensuring a place for all who wish to join and compete.

We are excited to welcome Mike Robinson as our new Director of Basketball, leading us in a dynamic and positive direction. With his extensive experience and passion for the game, we are confident that our basketball program will soar to new heights under his leadership. This marks the beginning of a transformative journey, and we provide an exceptional basketball experience for all participants.

Our Premier boys and girls teams are guided by two highly experienced and successful coaches, Nathan Hanna and Brooke Blair, respectively. Both teams compete in the Auckland Secondary Schools competition, organised by College Sport, while our other teams participate in the Harbour Basketball competition.

To cover the costs associated with College Sport registration, Harbour Sport association fees, administration, and equipment, a fee will be charged to the school parent portal. Basketball uniforms, including singlets and shorts, can be purchased from the school Uniform Shop.

For information on trials, practice times, games, and results, please refer to the Basketball noticeboard outside the Sports Office and stay updated through our Sports Instagram page and SOCS our new Sports Information Tool –

We look forward to working with you all and achieving great success together.

All teams train on our school premises. Gyms 1,2 or 3.

As we fall under the Harbour Basketball umbrella, the majority of our games are at EFS (Eventfinda Stadium)  AUT Northcote, or YMCA Northcote and it is the student’s responsibility to get to and from both trainings and games.

Our Senior Premier teams have 8 teams in their division and play them twice – both home and away games against each of these schools.

All basketball players are expected to find their own way to their basketball games

All basketball players, outside of our Premier teams, are required to purchase a Kukri singlet and a pair of Kukri shorts from the Uniform Shop.

Playing Singlet: $55.00

PE Shorts: $42.00

Mouth guards are compulsory under Harbour Basketball rules.
