Rangitoto College is one of the leading Basketball schools in New Zealand. We have produced a large number of Tall Blacks and Tall Ferns and our Premier Boys won back to back National titles in 2015 and 2016.

Training Times
Most teams train once a week in the morning or afternoons. Trainings are based on the availability of gyms and coaches.

Rangitoto College is a very proud and inclusive basketball school boasting 23 teams in 2022 and approximately 250 keen and enthusiastic students. Teams range from social to highly competitive and there is room for absolutely everyone to participate and/or compete in. 

Our Premier boys and girls teams are led by two very successful, high level of experience coaches in Kenny Stone (boys) and Justine Reed (girls) Both teams play in the Premier AA Grade. 

Our premier teams compete in the Auckland Secondary Schools competition administered by College Sport, and all remaining teams play in the Harbour Basketball competition

 

A fee will be charged to the parent portal to cover the cost of registration to College Sport, Harbour Sport association fees, administration fees and equipment. Basketball uniforms (singlets and shorts) must be purchased from the school Uniform Shoppe.

 

Notices regarding trials, practice times, games and results will be posted on the Basketball noticeboard outside the Sports’ Office.

VENUES and TRANSPORT

All teams train on our school premises. Gyms 1,2 or 3.

The majority of games are at EFS (Eventfinda Stadium)  AUT Northcote, or YMCA Northcote and it is the student’s responsibility to get to and from both trainings and games.

Our Senior Premier teams have 8 teams in their division and play them twice – both home and away games against each of these schools.

UNIFORM

All basketball players are required to purchase a kukri singlet and a pair of kukri shorts.

Uniform (red kit only) is included in the Senior Premier boys and girls fees.

Mouth guards are compulsory under Harbour Basketball rules
