Olympic Weightlifting is a safe, dynamic sport that is extremely good for flexibility, speed, and strength.  It involves two classical lifts:  snatch and clean & jerk. This is a sport for girls and boys of all sizes.

Rangitoto College has an established track record in Olympic Weightlifting, including four consecutive Top Male Team titles at the New Zealand Secondary School Championships

Recently our Rangitoto College weightlifters achieved an outstanding set of results at the NZ Secondary School Championships 2026! Our team put on a massive display of strength, bringing home five medals across the competition – three golds & two silvers!

We continue to have successes at Auckland and New Zealand Secondary School competitions with various podium finishes across both our female and male lifters.
