Previously known as Beach Day, Year 9 students, teachers, and the Student Leadership Team worked together to build relationships with their peers. Check out Cameron Senior’s acceptance speech after being named the sole recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Academic Excellence!

Cameron gained Outstanding Scholarships in Art History, English, Geography, Health and Physical Education, History, Physics, and Statistics. He also gained Scholarships in Biology, Calculus, and Chemistry. Additionally, Cameron was named Top Subject Scholar for Art History, Geography, and Statistics. 

He is currently studying a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Auckland, hoping to gain entry into their illustrious medical programme. He aspires to make a difference through clinical practice and research.

Amazing news! Cameron Senior, 2021 Dux, has received the Prime Minister’s Award for Academic Excellence. This prestigious title recognises the highest achieving New Zealand Scholarship student. This is the first time in Rangitoto College history that one of our students has received this award. Cameron is pictured here with the Associate Minister of Education, Hon. Jan Tinetti.
 
Cameron achieved an incredible 10 Scholarships, with seven at Outstanding level and three Top in New Zealand Subject awards. 
 
Cameron was accompanied at the Beehive by current Year 13 student Ashley Huddart, who was presented with an award for Top in New Zealand for Health and Physical Education.

Double gold! It has been a huge week for Rangitoto water polo with both our premier teams winning national titles at the New Zealand Water Polo Secondary Schools tournaments. 

Our Premier Boys won 5 - 3 against Hamilton Boys and our Premier Girls won 5 - 2 against Diocesan. Congratulations to MVPs Luke Blackburn and Darcy Spark.

Over 70 students joined our United Nations Youth sessions last week to discuss and debate the significance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. UN Youth is the largest youth-for-youth organisation in Aotearoa and aims to inspire global citizens, amplify youth voices, and empower young people to step up and push for change. In these sessions, our young people delved deeper into understanding the world around them and aimed to create a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.
