BACK

What a chaotic but beautiful start to 2023. We are excited to highlight the successes and opportunities that are being developed in cricket at Rangitoto College this year.

The 1st XI Girls coach, Nathan Banks, has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to build a legitimate cricket programme for girls. Part of that legitimacy is premier status. The recognition as a Premier Team is something new, special, and well-deserved. We are extremely excited to see the growth and development of our programme for girls’ cricket over the next few weeks, months, and years to come. Well done to everyone involved.

We also trialled a new initiative with our Rangitoto Cricket Development Programme last week which went extremely well. The new initiative involved all the cricket teams coming together and training collaboratively in an intensive eight-week programme. This was led by the energetic 1st XI Boys coach and alumnus Mark Badland, with the support of alumni East Coast Bays players Max Butler, Isaac Bird, and Kyle Kieser. Not only are these sessions growing and developing the skills and cricket knowledge of our rangatahi, but it also offers the opportunity to build a vibrant and connected Rangitoto cricketing community. What a great opportunity to level up all areas of cricket from fielding, batting, bowling, and general technical and tactical aspects of the game.

This was a fantastic moment for Rangitoto College. Singing from the same song sheet, working in partnership with East Coast Bays Cricket and Mitre 10 Mega Albany with the same goal in mind and that is to serve the cricketers of our community.

Let the journey begin! Thank you to everyone who jumped on the waka, picked up an oar, and confidently just started paddling to a bright and successful future.
