BACK

Our goal is to produce top academic students ready to make a real difference in the world. In addition to their academic studies, we encourage students to become involved in activities designed to develop leadership skills, such as the Model United Nations, and complete service work which goes a long way to securing a scholarship to a top university. Students intending to study at American Universities may like to join our S.A.T. study group to help prepare for the exams.

Preparation for future success

The New Zealand education system is modern and innovative, preparing students for life in a fast-paced global economy. Our highly qualified teachers, a strong curriculum and outstanding facilities combine to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment. Teachers challenge students to participate actively in classes, working both individually and collaboratively with other students. A range of assessment methods are used (examinations, assignments, practical assessments, group work and presentations) to allow for different types of intelligence and students are always encouraged to ask questions and think creatively, so they learn critical thinking, not just knowledge.

In recent years our graduates have won scholarships to all New Zealand universities and a large number of prestigious universities abroad, including Yale University, Princeton University, Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Imperial College, the University of California (Berkeley), Washington State University, the University of Kentucky, the University of Hawaii, Lafayette College, the university of Canberra and the University of Melbourne.

Rangitoto students have competed post graduate studies at M.I.T, Harvard Medical School, Cornell University and New York State University. Some of our ex-students are currently teaching at Ivy League schools in the UK and USA, while others have gone on to become top businessmen, doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists, researchers, diplomats, interpreters, sportsmen, environmentalists, musicians, politicians, pilots and computer programmers.

University Approved Subjects

We believe in choice and know that every student has different needs, abilities and goals.  Students work with Academic Deans to design courses to fit their individual needs and can choose from a long list of University Approved Subjects. Whether students want to do Engineering at the University of Auckland, Law at Harvard University or Business at MIT, Rangitoto College gives them the opportunity to gain the entry credits needed.
