Languages are used for both business and pleasure, opening up pathways for communication, exploration, and connection. The study of languages promotes broader cultural understanding and encourages students to engage with the world from diverse perspectives.
Our language courses empower students to communicate effectively—both orally and in writing—on key aspects of modern life, including family, friendships, health, homeland, future plans, technology, holidays, and environmental issues.
Language learning develops valuable cross-cultural skills and fosters flexible thinking. It helps students step outside their cultural “comfort zone,” cultivating positive attitudes toward difference and diversity. It also enhances their understanding and practical grasp of their first language.
All languages are available for study from Year 9 through to Year 13:
- Te Reo Māori
- Chinese
- Japanese
- Spanish
