Today our rangatahi celebrate Pink Shirt Day with a non-uniform day and activities led by our student leaders to raise awareness about the Mental Health Foundation. On Pink Shirt Day, Rangitoto College will be transformed into a sea of māwhero/pink as we stand together to spread aroha, celebrate diversity and end bullying! Annual Blood Drive – Supporting NZ Blood Service

Rangitoto College is proud to host its annual blood drive, offering students aged 16 and over, along with staff, the opportunity to support the New Zealand Blood Service. Why it matters: New Zealand hospitals require over 3,000 units of blood every week. Our school’s contribution not only helps meet this critical need but also educates students about the importance of blood donation — inspiring many to become lifelong donors. Student-led support: The Community and Service Committees play a key role in organising and running the event. They:
  • Visit every senior tutor class and present at assemblies to encourage sign-ups via the NZ Blood Service app
  • Assist throughout the day and provide refreshments for donors
  • Work alongside school photographers to capture highlights for our publications
Impact: Each year, Rangitoto College collects over 200 units of blood — that’s more than 94 litres, with the potential to save up to 600 lives. Let’s continue making a difference, one donation at a time.

Parents and Caregivers are invited to attend a presentation hosted by Brett Harvey from Tāima Kōrero , Time 2 Talk. Brett Brett shares his breadth of experience and knowledge on keeping children safe online and mitigating the harmful effects of pornography; delivers engaging, honest and sensible information on how to talk about pornography with your child or teenager, and why these conversations need to happen.  Backed by the latest statistics and research, Brett’s presentations draw on his first-hand knowledge of the negative effects of pornography and provide attendees with an eye-opening insight into the multi-billion dollar industry that is targeting our children. You will leave feeling well-informed and equipped to have these difficult yet essential conversations with your children. We encourage all parents to attend this session to support their teenager in safely navigating the digital landscape of online pornography.  You will be able to book your spot online from Term 2, 2026.
