The mission of the Rangitoto Careers Department is to empower student to take ownership of their career journeys by being involved in their own careers learning.

We want our students to feel supported by expert guidance, to be inspired by diverse opportunities, and be prepared to be courageous in pursuing their aspirations while remaining curious about their futures.

We strive to provide a connected and inclusive environment that equips students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to achieve their full potential and succeed in a rapidly changing world.

We provide up-to-date information, advice and guidance to all students through our comprehensive careers programme, group and one-to-one student support.

Students can attend a Careers Drop-In Session; the times of which are advertised weekly through the daily notices and on Ranginet > Careers. One-on-one meetings can be booked through our “Drop-In Follow-Up” system. Parent / caregiver enquiries are also welcome. Students can also access resources in the Careers Hub, outside of lesson time.

To help students keep up to date with what’s happening, careers information and events are posted on the daily notices and the Career Centre pages of RangiNET.

During Term 3, Deans and Careers staff assist students with making their subject choices for the following year. Refer to Academic Programmes for details of subjects offered at the College and entry requirements for both tertiary study and on-job training pathways.

STAR – Short Introductory Courses

STAR courses are designed to give senior students an introduction to future pathways or to complete work-related qualifications such as First Aid and Defensive Driving.

Gateway & Pathways to Employment

Gateway and Pathways to Employment are specialised subjects offering selected Year 12 and 13 students real life skills to enable them to be better prepared for their future. The programmes combine in-class learning with external industry related courses and a work experience placement.
