Tēnā koutou e te whānau o Te Kāreti o Rangitoto
Dear Parents and Caregivers of Rangitoto College

Welcome to the Term 2 edition of Vista 2026, our digital magazine dedicated to celebrating the diverse achievements of our Rangitoto College community. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term here and I am sure you will understand why when you see the incredible range of activities that we provide for our students. It is a strategic priority for us to provide unrivalled opportunities for students to make a positive difference in our community, and you will see that embedded throughout this edition of Vista. I have been impressed at the level of student involvement in our Sports, Arts and Cultural opportunities as well as the significant contribution we make back into the community through volunteer work, coaching and student leadership.

By providing an unrivalled range of opportunities inside and outside of the classroom, we create space for students to explore their interests, build connections with others and enjoy success at the highest levels. We have excellent participation rates, our premier teams are succeeding in top-tier competitions, and the performing arts are flourishing, entertaining our community and achieving regional and national recognition. All of this is underpinned by an outstanding academic programme that offers a remarkable range of learning opportunities for our students.

We prioritise this because evidence from research and our experience shows us that the development of the whole person makes a significant difference on outcomes for students as they graduate. The more students participate, the more they build a sense of belonging and connection and the greater their growth is during their time at Rangitoto College. This is why we recognise the importance of this in our diplomas for Years 9, 10 and 11 and through the Diploma Programme from International Baccalaureate, where students must maintain a high involvement through CAS (Creativity, Action and Service). So, as you are reading this edition of Vista, allow yourselves a moment to be impressed at the range of student success. I also encourage you to draw inspiration on new ways for your child to get involved and make the most of the unrivalled opportunities that exist for students at Rangitoto College.
