Tēnā koutou e te whānau whānui o Rangitoto,
As Term 1 draws to a close, we can reflect on a very positive beginning to the year.
Throughout the term, I have spoken to students in assembly on the value of learning from past experiences, setting aspirations, and building good habits and routines. This allows students to confidently tackle life and work towards those aspirations. We have spoken of the power of having a positive bias—actively choosing to look for the lesson, the opportunity, and the good around us.
As we move towards Term 2, students will need these skills and mindsets to navigate inevitable challenges. We have also spoken about the ability for students to lean into the support networks around them. To this end, I thank you as parents/caregivers for the support you provide on a daily basis, and also our staff for the various support networks within the College which are available to our students.
In the final week of term, we celebrate student achievement through our Special Assemblies. We know students want to succeed at school, and having the opportunity to celebrate this as a community is always highly anticipated. I would like to extend my congratulations to students on their achievements throughout the term.
We welcome Greg Thornton as the new Principal of Rangitoto College to begin Term 2. Greg joins us from Cambridge High School and returns to Rangitoto College as a former student and teacher of the College.
I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Easter and Term 1 holiday with whānau and friends.
Ngā mihi nui,
Acting Principal
