Te Hōnonga a Iwi Restoring Rosedale Park is a group of diverse volunteers who range in age from 2 to 84.

Three-quarters of our volunteers are talented, busy young people from 9 schools and 3 universities.

Though we have leaders across Kristin and other high schools, this article focuses on our hardworking Rangitoto College youth leaders.

Reina Li is a Chinese Year 10 student. She mainly focuses on chicken caring, but she is regular at attending working bees. When she first started volunteering, she wanted to learn more about te taiao. Eventually, she fell in love with caring for the environment.

Edan Merlin is another Year 10 student, originally from Kazakhstan. He is a regular at the working bees, and he really enjoys removing weeds.

Ethan Yiran (Ethan) Wang is a Year 12 student. He led the school’s efforts to run the Centurion Park trapline. He deeply cares about the environment. Ethan has noticed a decrease in the number of animals trapped this year, and he highlights the new possum trap.

Chris Kumala is also in Year 12. He is a chicken carer and Business Activator. He raised more than $1000 at the Enviro group BBQ for Te Hono. In addition to this, Chris has been shortlisted to go to the USA for an international sustainable business forum at the end of term. Ki te waimarie, Chris!

Ngā mihi nui to all Te Hōnonga a Iwi youth leaders and volunteers for all the actions they undertake to regenerate nature and wildlife, and create a legacy for a brighter future. Every action matters, and Te Hōnonga a Iwi appreciates your outstanding, loyal support and skills.
