The Role of Deans at the College
Deans at our College play a vital dual role—both administrative and pastoral—in supporting students and staff.
Team Structure
Each year level, from 9 through 13, is guided by three Deans and an Associate Dean, ensuring strong support and continuity throughout the school journey. Beyond these year-level teams, we have two Deans focused on our International students, two Engagement Deans who foster connection and wellbeing, one Dean dedicated to the International Baccalaureate programme, and a Chinese Pastoral and Support Liaison role to provide tailored care for our Chinese community.
Administrative Responsibilities
Deans manage a range of operational tasks, including:
-
Allocating students to classes
-
Monitoring and accounting for student absences
-
Leading weekly assemblies
-
Supporting staff in upholding uniform and behavioural standards
Pastoral Support
Deans are often the first point of contact for parents with concerns about their child’s wellbeing or progress. They:
-
Encourage and celebrate student achievement
-
Support students who are struggling to meet behavioural or academic expectations
-
Provide a safe space for students to discuss any personal or school-related difficulties
Teaching Commitments and Contact
All Deans also teach, which means they may not always be immediately available in their offices. However, they aim to respond to voicemail messages within 24 hours and are happy to arrange appointments with parents upon request. To contact a Dean via email, please click on their name below.”
