ESOL Student Support Assistant (SSA) - commencing Term 1 2026

Rangitoto College is looking for exceptional, empathetic person to work in the ESOL Department with our students. This is a 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:40am – 3:20pm (40 minutes unpaid lunch break included), term time only, 1 year fixed term position.

The successful candidate will be supporting English language learning students and assisting teachers in the English and other Learning Areas of the New Zealand Curriculum at phases 3 and 4. Successful candidate will also track, monitor, and keep records of ELLP stages for relevant students as well as doing administrative work for the department. A high level of English language proficiency is required. Competency in Chinese and/or Korean is helpful, but not necessary.

This position is suitable for ex-teachers from either the primary or secondary sector.

Rangitoto College is seeking a Director of Football to lead the participation and performance of our Football programme. This is an exciting initiative that gives the successful candidate a chance to have a positive impact on our students and the wider community. The Director of Football will work closely with our wider sports department and will be responsible for building a successful pathway for our athletes that leads to an outstanding Football experience.

Visual Arts Technician (Part-time Permanent) - commencing T1 2026

Rangitoto College invites applications for a part-time permanent position (20 hours per week) as a Visual Arts Technician in the Visual Arts Department, commencing Term 1 2026. Regular working hours can be negotiated (generally each weekday morning) and increased hours and salary steps possible in future with the right candidate, starting at Grade 2 of the Support Staff scale.

 

We seek an innovative and enthusiastic school and/or arts administrator/technician who has a demonstrated interest in the visual arts, the creative industries, and/or education. The department is collegial, collaborative, creative, and successful, with passionate teachers who specialise in a range of media. Large (for an art department), we consider our diversity to be our strength. The right candidate will be versed in the use of art materials and maintaining their safe storage, and versed in the use of ICT to support this, including working with external suppliers.

 

The Visual Arts Technician will support the Visual Arts department at the college by managing and maintaining art resources, supporting the coordination of exhibitions, and assisting with administration for trips and events as required. The role involves managing the materials resource room, ensuring classrooms are well-stocked, and providing support to the Visual Arts Head of Department and Curriculum Leaders with specialist material orders and other resource requirements to support our teachers and students.

Social Science Teacher - commencing T1 2026

Rangitoto College is looking for a teacher of Social Science (full-time permanent), specialising in Sociology, to join our energetic, well-resourced, and collegial department. We welcome applications from enthusiastic and motivated teachers who will thrive in a busy and dynamic environment.

In addition to experienced teachers, we welcome applications from beginning or early-career teachers, who will be able to benefit from our outstanding PCT programme.

Applicants should state all of their senior subject specialties. An ability to teach across two or more specialties would be advantageous.

Sports Coordinator – Permanent 52 week, 28 hours

Rangitoto College seeks a super star administrator with stellar organisational skills to join our sports coordinator team. This position is 28 hours per week, 52 weeks.

This position is one of 5 Sport Coordinators who manage a portfolio of sports.

Rangitoto College ​​​​​​​provides over 40 different sports. Students are encouraged to participate in sport throughout their time at the College. With an extensive range of sports on offer and with a focus on long-term healthy lifestyle choices, students are challenged to unlock their potential and expand their talents. Our sporting facilities are among the very best in New Zealand. They include an Olympic-standard water-based hockey turf, three gymnasiums (including full sized basketball and netball courts), fully equipped modern fitness center, indoor cricket nets and bowling machine, and the nearby athletics track at the Millennium Institute.

The successful applicant will be required to foster and maintain close relationships with students, parents, teachers, coaches and school and community sporting bodies. In this role the applicant will be part of a team responsible for the coordination of summer and/or winter sports, sport administration, event management and sport development. Each coordinator is responsible for a portfolio of sports. This role will also have a large involvement in the Sports Departments key events including school sports days and exchanges, sports awards and teams attending tournaments.

Our ideal appointment will have a minimum of 2 years administration experience with proven organisational skills, excellent verbal and written communication and be a team player who enjoys problem solving. An ability to listen and use critical thinking skills to resolve situations will allow this person to be successful in their role.

Teacher and Curriculum Leader of Health and PE Permanent, full time -Term 1 2026 2MU's

Rangitoto College is looking for a Teacher and Curriculum Leader (2MU’s) of Health and Physical Education, ideally with expertise in Health, to join our energetic, well-resourced, and collegial Health & PE Department. This is a full-time permanent position commencing Term 1 2026 or by negotiation. Health and Safety Manager 2026 - 35-40 hours negotiable

Rangitoto College, New Zealand’s largest secondary school, is seeking a Health & Safety/EOTC Manager to provide strong management, support, and guidance across the school. Ideally you will have experience in managing Health & Safety in a large organisation. This is a pivotal role, reporting directly to the Principal to ensure statutory obligations are met and H&S and EOTC best practice is implemented.

You will be instrumental in developing and continually improving risk assessment strategies for a diverse range of hazards and all activities outside the classroom and a key driver in the promotion and maintenance of a healthy and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Operational Excellence: Ensuring the consistent development and implementation of H&S policy and standards into operational best practice.
  • EOTC Compliance: Ensuring all Education Outside the Classroom activities meet Ministry of Education guidelines, are aligned with the school’s values and curriculum, and are conducted safely.
  • Risk Management: Developing and maintaining the centralisation of H&S documentation, including Hazard Registers, Incident Reporting, and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Training & Auditing: Developing high-quality H&S training for staff and students, and conducting audits and regular inspections. Advisory: Providing expert advice on both H&S and EOTC matters to support departments in resolving issues with their own resources and planning.

Core Competencies:

We are looking for someone with proven expertise and strong interpersonal skills. Your core competencies should include:

  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualise, develop, and implement hazard control methodologies and legal compliance strategies.
