Commerce Teacher - commencing in August or by negotiation

Rangitoto College invites applications for a Commerce teacher specialising in Senior Business Studies. State other subjects. The start date is the 3rd of August or by negotiation.

We seek a positive and hardworking teacher to join our collegial, well-resourced department that achieves excellent academic results.

Rangitoto College is a high-performing school that aims to give every student the opportunity to thrive and excel. We do this by establishing and maintaining optimal conditions for learning, utilising a Knowledge Rich Curriculum and Mātauranga Māori, and enacting research-informed Teaching Principles. The college offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma in addition to NCEA. There may also be an opportunity in the future for teaching Business Management within the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

We are open to applications from both experienced teachers as well as from beginning teachers, who can take advantage of our excellent PCT programme.

Teachers at the college are expected to contribute to the co-curricular life of the school.

Contract and remuneration will be in accordance with the Secondary Teachers’ collective agreement (STCA) https://www.education.govt.nz/school/people-and-employment/employment-agreements/collective-agreements/ as assessed by the Salary Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Education. Annual remuneration is dependent on service and qualifications, starting $62,862.00 and top rate of $105,686.00. Hours of work will be as set out in the STCA.

ESOL Teacher - commencing in T2 or T3 by negotiation

Rangitoto College is seeking an enthusiastic, warm, and demanding teacher of New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) English in an ESOL context to join our highly successful and collegial department. Commencement is by negotiation for term 2 or 3, 2026.

 

Experience and knowledge of the English Language Learning Progressions (ELLP) and experience teaching in the NZC is essential. Please state experience and knowledge in any of the following as well:

  • preparing students for NCEA English assessments;
  • teaching in the IB Diploma Programme (English A or English B);
  • preparing students for any level of EL unit standards;
  • course design for the secondary NZC English Learning Area.

  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • A student-centred teaching philosophy and strong New Zealand curriculum knowledge.
  • The ability to build positive, restorative relationships with students, staff, and whānau.
