Our library is a vibrant, student-focused space offering exceptional services and collections that support learning and inspire a lifelong love of reading.

The library is the heart of our school—a place where students and staff can access a wide range of reading and research resources. It’s both a quiet retreat for focused study and a social hub where everyone is welcome.

Open from 8 am to 5 pm every school day, the library operates under a generous borrowing policy: “All you can carry.” Our friendly librarians are always happy to assist with reading recommendations and research support.

Services and Collections

Our Library team—supported by 80 dedicated student librarians—is here to help students discover the perfect book or locate the research resources they need for their learning. The library catalogue features research guides, curated reading lists, and a search function to make finding materials easy. To access the library login, visit the school Spider page, open the Quicklinks drop-down menu, and click on the the Library catalogue link.

Our print collection includes over 20,000 titles, offering a wide range of fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and multilingual resources in Te Reo, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, and Japanese. For those who prefer digital reading, we also offer a robust e-book and audiobook platform—accessible via the Quicklinks menu under Library e-books.

MidBays Kāhui Ako Literacy Resources

The MidBays Kāhui Ako Literacy Steering Group has created a whānau guide to support reading at home. Developed using research on how to best encourage children to read, the guide offers practical strategies for families to foster a love of reading.

It is available in English, Korean, and Mandarin. A huge thank you to Emily Chang, Andrew Bian, and Regina Noh from Rangitoto College for their translation support.

The school’s library is a place full of warmth, friendliness and help wherever you look; I love it so much!

I have worked for ten years at Rangitoto College, firstly as a Librarian and now as the Library Manager. I have always been an avid reader and I want to pass that love of reading onto others, be they students or staff. In today’s world, navigating the information environment can be intimidating and time consuming, so teaching students how to find and effectively use information is imperative. I want our students to become effective and efficient users of information so they can excel in their time at Rangitoto College and beyond. My mission is to help them achieve this goal.
