Hockey at Rangitoto College 

Rangitoto College offers a dynamic and inclusive hockey programme that caters to all skill levels—from those picking up a stick for the very first time to competitive athletes aspiring to reach the top of the sport. Our programme is built on strong values of inclusivity, development, and excellence, creating opportunities for every student to engage, grow, and thrive both on and off the turf.

In 2025, Rangitoto College is proud to field three boys’ teams and six girls’ teams competing in both the Harbour Hockey and College Sport Auckland competitions.

The girls’ 1st XI competes at the highest level of secondary school hockey in Auckland, while our other teams participate in the highly competitive Harbour Hockey grades. These opportunities allow our students to continually challenge themselves, work as part of a team, and strive for personal and collective excellence.

Rangitoto College is also privileged to host elite-level hockey on our world-class turf. We have previously welcomed the New Zealand Black Sticks men’s and women’s teams for training camps and proudly hosted international test matches, including fixtures between New Zealand and Korea—testament to the quality of our facilities and the strength of our hockey programme.

All matches will take place at Rangitoto College turf, the North Harbour Hockey Centre, or other venues across the North Shore. Students are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from trainings and games.

Please note: For games scheduled at 3:00pm, students are permitted to leave class at that time to allow sufficient travel time, warm-up, and match preparation.

All players (boys and girls) are required to purchase socks $16.00 from our Uniform Shoppe beside the tennis courts
