Waka Ama

Rangitoto is proud to be working alongside Waka Ama NZ and the Taniwha Waka Ama Club, providing quality training from experienced paddlers at Lake Pupuke. As this programme is just being established, our teams are currently entering local competitions at the novice level.

Kī-ō-rahi

Kī-ō-rahi is a traditional Māori sport that is new to Rangitoto College. Combining the skills of tag, rugby, and capture the flag, it is played on a circular field with two teams. The aim is to score points by touching a central target (the pou) while defending your own.

Fast-paced and strategic, Kī-ō-rahi emphasises teamwork, agility, and quick thinking. Students can compete in two Auckland Zone Day competitions, with the chance to qualify for Nationals if successful.

  • Seniors – Term 3
  • Juniors – Term 4
