Our Orchestral & Concert Band Programme involves over 180 students and really does offer something for everyone.

The five ensembles in our co-curricular Orchestral & Concert Band Programme aim to cater to the full spectrum of ages and abilities of our students. These groups perform a wide range of repertoire and are conducted by a team of accomplished musicians with many years of band and orchestral experience between them.

Co-curricular instrumental ensembles will perform at various school-based events throughout the year, and most will take part in both the Instrumental Camp in March and the KBB Music Festival in August. Every few years there will an opportunity for players in some of these ensembles to travel overseas. Curriculum ensembles will perform at the Junior Performing Arts showcase in Term 4, as well as certain assemblies and prize-giving ceremonies as appropriate.

The Symphonic Band and Chamber Year 9 Specialist Core Music Classes (sometimes combined into a Symphony Class) are critical to the size, skill level and sustainability of our co-curricular orchestral programme, with the Rare Instrument Scholarship initiative helping to fill gaps in the less common areas such as bassoon, oboe, viola, cello, double bass, French horn, trombone and tuba.
