Rangitoto College has given me excellent opportunities and amazing support throughout my learning journey, which has helped me to be able to achieve great success over the past three years. Rangitoto College’s student support has amazing values which include an environment that has given me amazing opportunities to be able to succeed in my subjects and sports.

Over my time at Rangitoto College, I have had the opportunity to play football every year. I enjoy the challenge of improving my skills and being able to meet new people throughout the football community. Last year, I applied to be a tour guide for Year 8 students. I was proud to represent the school and share my experiences at the school.

As a Year 11 student, I am on track to achieve my academic goal of gaining Level 1 with Merit Endorsement. The Learning Support staff have guided me throughout my learning journey by giving me special assessment conditions that mean I can complete assessments to the best of my ability, despite my learning disability.

Once I have completed high school, I plan to study tourism and communications at university. I know the Learning Centre will continue to guide me to reach my university entrance qualification. I have enjoyed my time here at Rangitoto College because I have met a lot of different people who have helped me along the way.

During my time at Rangitoto College, I have been given a great deal of support, allowing me to be just as successful as my peers. Since Year 9, I have been encouraged to use special assessment conditions during my assessments. This has made it much easier for me to complete exams and internals within their time limits. Special assessment conditions are easy to book, and my teachers have supported my use of them. This has allowed me to do well academicallyin 2021 I achieved NCEA Level 1 with Excellence and in 2022 I achieved NCEA Level 2 with Merit. I have also been able to participate in the extension programmes for several of my subjects. I would certainly, encourage other students to take advantage of any support they are offered.

I have also been able to take advantage of the many performing arts opportunities available at Rangitoto College. I currently play trombone in the Rangitoto College Big Band, Symphony Orchestra, and Concert Band. I also sing in two school choirs, The Fundamentals and Cambiata.

After I have graduated, I plan to study engineering at university. I am very grateful for all the support and opportunities I have been offered over my time at Rangitoto College.
