BACKThe Careers Department recently hosted its annual Pathways Evening, an event dedicated to helping students and their families make confident subject choices for the year ahead and beyond. The “expo style” event welcomed over a thousand Year 10 and Year 11 students and their whānau, creating a vibrant, energetic atmosphere in the Auditorium.
Attendees had the opportunity to speak directly with teachers from all subject areas, view impressive student work, and have in-depth conversations about the curriculum. There were also a number of presentations held throughout the evening to inform students on leadership roles and opportunities within the school.
The importance of this event was clear from the fantastic turnout and the lively discussions taking place. One parent commented, “the evening was informative and well organised. I now have a much clearer understanding of how to better support my son’s studies”.
This event reinforced the vital role of career education. Research shows that students with a clear career goal are more engaged and perform better academically.
