It was a busy term two for our Year 12 and 13 Business Studies entrepreneurs as they have been out and about selling around the North Shore. Markets included Browns Bay, Long Bay, Takapuna, Catalina Bay and Mairangi Bay. Their engagement with the wider community has helped to enrich their learning experience through real-life marketing applications and selling interactions.
A particular highlight this year was our first ever market day at Mairangi Bay. Through the support of Mairangi Bay Arts Centre, Hibiscus and Bays Local Board, and the local youth council, the event, aptly named ‘Launchpad’ was established. The venue included the Mairangi Bay Arts Centre and the Mairangi Bay Village.
This gave an opportunity for our students to showcase their marketing skills in a variety of platforms to promote the event around the school and in social media. The day of the event was a celebration of their hard work as they showcased high quality products such as jewellery, handmade flowers, skincare, desserts, and dog treats. The atmosphere was festive with music playing and arts activities being offered such as face painting.
This is only the beginning, so watch this space and we’ll be back next year with even more to offer!
