The Community Garden continues to flourish in term 4. Weeding all winter foliage and improving soil quality is our current focus. An abundance of brassica, celery, lettuce, and our staples of silverbeet and spinach have been harvested. Planting of seedlings for summer crops has continued, notably: radish, beetroot, a variety of pumpkins, kamokamo, bush green beans, eggplant and watermelon.
Last week, I met up with Gerry and Karen Ruffell from Knightsbridge Lifestyle Village who will take care of our garden again over the summer holiday weeks. As our gardening mentors, Gerry and Karen are planning a couple of lunchtime sessions with our new Junior School leaders in the coming weeks. This is a fantastic opportunity for our team to learn more about gardening and we are very grateful to have such kind, experienced community helpers!
