BACKOn the back of our Premier Boys and Girls teams winning both the Harbour Super League and the Auckland-wide Premier League, both teams travelled to Takanini to contest the Auckland Championships.
The boys’ team won the Auckland title, beating Rosmini College in the semifinal and arch-rivals Manurewa in the final. In doing so, they played seven matches and didn’t drop a set. Captain Ryan Jefferson was named MVP, with Logan Vorster, Juan Carlos Quintero, and Joseph Cha also named in the tournament team.
The girls’ team won silver. They beat Westlake 3-0 in the semi-final but were defeated by Orewa in the final. Captain and Head Girl Kaia Buckley was named in the tournament team, as was Devyn Golaboski.
The following players were then chosen for the Harbour Secondary Schools tournament team:
Cuba Rihari, Will Schmidt, Juan Carlos, Ryan Jefferson, and Joao Da Silva Petruccii.
Kiana Stevenson, Kaia Buckley, Devyn Golaboski, and Gina Caramello.
The teams travelled to Palmerston North in the Summer Sports Tournament week to compete at the New Zealand Secondary School Volleyball Championships. These talented teams made history by both placing first in Division 1 of the competition.
Our girls’ team won 3-0 against Orewa. Our boys’ team won 3-1 against Waimea.
