BACK

We again hosted an open training with our Premier Netball sisters, inviting all current Year 8 students who were interested to learn more about Rangitoto College netball. It was a busy morning with our invitees observing a Premier training and then joining in, while parents were free to tour the school and ask those burning questions to our netball and school staff. The morning concluded with some yummy kai, lots of smiles, and many new friends made. This is becoming quite the annual fixture in our netball calendar and our netball sisters always look forward to giving back to future potential Rangitoto sisters.

Many of our umpire sisters have gained the next step in their official accreditations over the course of this year. We had six (including one alumni) Rangitoto College umpires officiate at UNISS, all doing extremely well with three of our umpires selected to umpire (or reserve) the D grade final. A very big thank you to all of our umpires—we appreciate you all.

This year saw us with two teams in the Netball North Harbour Premier Grade! It has been many years since we have accomplished this. Our Premier 1 team took out the grade on the back of their championship win last year and our Premier 2 team finished fourth. Our Year 9s have had a great start to their Rangitoto netball journey, with our Year 9/1 team placing second in the top Year 9 grade.  Year 9/5 and Year 9/8 also won their respective grades.

Possibly the biggest achievement was getting in a full season! After the past two years being disrupted by Covid-19 it was great to be on the court to play our final games for 2022. Congratulations to all who have taken part in our Rangitoto netball programme this season. We have gone from strength to strength on and off the court.
