It was a long and arduous slog this term and our athletes persevered through some pretty wet and tough playing conditions. Our 10 hockey teams competed reasonably well with some awesome results and some great learning opportunities too.
Special mention to our 2nd XI Girls and our Junior Boys Hockey teams who displayed some brilliant skills and respectively won their divisions. Our Year 9 boys played Massey High School 1st XI in the final, who fielded several Year 13 students, and came away with the win. Well done to all our teams.
The hockey season came to an end during Tournament Week with the boys finishing 27th in the country and the girls losing their Chica Gilmer grand final in an epic hard-fought battle going down 1-0 to our neighbours Carmel College.
Regan Bain (who is our 1st XI Girls Hockey coach) also held a development skills session this term. It was an open invitation to all students and it was well received. Working on combative training, attack and defensive skills, and tactics in the circle, positional technical skill development, and general gameplay. Our students loved this opportunity and it is certainly one not to be missed when the opportunity presents itself again moving forward. Keep your eyes peeled for these sessions!
Thanks again to all our coaches, managers, parents, caregivers, and supporters for an extraordinary 2022 season.
