BACKThe Community and Environment Leadership Team led a successful food drive in Week 5 for the Good Works Trust, in partnership with St Mary’s by the Sea. To boost donations this year, we challenged each tutor class to build a tower out of their collected items. This friendly competition led our kura to significantly exceed all previous donation records while strengthening our connection with the volunteers at St Mary’s.
Students donated a wide assortment of items, including canned and dried food, milk powder, hygiene and sanitary products, and household cleaning supplies – all essential items for the food banks run by St Mary’s by the Sea and the Good Works Trust.
To wrap up the week, Friday was a blue-themed non-uniform day (representing St Mary’s by the Sea) where students contributed physical items, financial donations, or both! Thanks to these generous student contributions we raised $3,300, beating last year’s total by $1,000. These funds will directly support and ease the struggles faced by members of our school and wider community.
