Annual Blood Drive – Supporting NZ Blood Service

Rangitoto College is proud to host its annual blood drive, offering students aged 16 and over, along with staff, the opportunity to support the New Zealand Blood Service.

Why it matters: New Zealand hospitals require over 3,000 units of blood every week. Our school’s contribution not only helps meet this critical need but also educates students about the importance of blood donation — inspiring many to become lifelong donors.

Student-led support: The Community and Service Committees play a key role in organising and running the event. They:

  • Visit every senior tutor class and present at assemblies to encourage sign-ups via the NZ Blood Service app
  • Assist throughout the day and provide refreshments for donors
  • Work alongside school photographers to capture highlights for our publications

Impact: Each year, Rangitoto College collects over 200 units of blood — that’s more than 94 litres, with the potential to save up to 600 lives. Let’s continue making a difference, one donation at a time.
