Whakatau Policy

Read our Whakatau policy here.

A Whakatau is a Māori welcoming ceremony, similar to a Pōwhiri but more informal in nature. It is used to formally acknowledge and welcome new groups and individuals, such as staff, visitors, or whānau, into a space or community. Commonly held in schools, organisations, and hui, a whakatau fosters a sense of belonging and connection, helping to establish respectful relationships and create a culturally grounded environment.
