The most exciting math competition of the year – Rangi Mathex – took place from lunchtime to Period 5 in Gym 3 on the last day of March. This year, we had an unprecedented number of participants, with 31 teams of Year 9s and 23 teams of Year 10s. All the teams gave their best to solve 20 questions in just 30 minutes. Special congratulations to the following podium winners:
Year 9
- 1st place: Yanxing (Robert) Chen, Dylan Sun, Ryan Lau, Ryan Wang
- 2nd place: Tania Luo, Guanhan Li, Shuyan Dai, William Zhang
- 3rd place: Oscar Lan, Xi (Quincy) Chen, Shenzhe (Edward) Liu, Shenmu (Jack) Yan
Year 10
- 1st place: Jonathan Xu, Daniel Fang, Jessie Dong, Leon Daunsantoso
- 2nd place: Yiyang (Ethan) Cao, Oscar Li, Wang Hou (Eric) Xiao, Justin Zhang
- 3rd place: Emma Zhang, Chenxi (Aria) Han, Tiffany Zhang, Reina Li
In Term 2 and early Term 3, all the winners mentioned above will train twice a week to prepare for the Auckland Mathex competition.
Rangi Mathex was prepared and organised by the student leaders of the Rangitoto Math Competition Club, along with other helpers and markers. A special shoutout to Sylvia Yu, Gwang Ho Kim, Ying Yuan (Jack) Zhang, Jennifer Lan, Olivia Jun, Tianyi Lu, Jessie Dong, Jonathon Xu, Annie Jin, Henna Hwang, YuChuan (Elvis) Xiao, Kyunghyeon (Elijah) Tac, Kyunghoon (Kyle) Tac, Yuang (Leon) Wu, Joshua Wang, Alexander (Alex) Bai, Austin Picard, Shengjia (Gordon) Peng, Elwin Bao, Sunny Zhang, Xiaoxiao (Sean) Li, and Dianchen (Ken) Li.
