Our youth development programme empowers you to become whoever you want to be by providing highly engaged days in an environment uninterrupted by technology and the distractions of home and school life.

Each young person gets the chance to unleash and discover their real potential in the challenging yet supportive atmosphere of a tall ship.

10-Day Development Voyage (Ages 16–19)

A 10-day voyage is a high-impact, life-changing experience, unlocking your potential and leaving you ready to face your future.

• How to Apply: This is not an organised school event. Students aged 16+ must apply independently from the school by clicking the application link on the Spirit of NZ website.

5-Day Discovery Voyage (Ages 14–16)

This is the perfect opportunity to jump on board with your classmates and discover adventure, challenge, and healthy competition in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf.

• Details: This event happens once a year for 5 days. Ten students from Rangitoto (5 boys, 5 girls) join 30 other young people from different schools.
• How to Apply: This is an organised school event. Keep an eye out in the daily notices for upcoming voyages, especially regarding the 2026 trip!

Spirit of Adventure is applicable towards the Rangitoto Summit Diploma.  Participation will be captured in your student records.

In order to have your activity added to your profile in time to be recognised at prizegiving, please ensure it is added by:

• Year 9 and Year 10: 21 November 2025
• Year 11: 19 November 2025
• Year 12 and Year 13: 18 September 2025
