The Rangitoto Swimming Team had another exceptional year, showcasing their talent across a range of competitions. From local zones to the national stage, our swimmers have consistently performed and reinforced Rangitoto’s reputation as a top swimming school.
Our swimmers delivered dominant performances at key events such as the North Harbour Zone, Champ of Champs, and Individual Champs, bringing home multiple podium finishes. The team earned 30 medals at the Champ of Champs (13 gold, 8 silver, 9 bronze) and 24 at the Individual Champs (8 gold, 10 silver, 6 bronze).
The season’s highlight was the New Zealand Secondary Schools Swimming Championships in Hamilton, where our squad of 28 swimmers proudly defended the title of Top Co-Ed Secondary School for the sixth year in a row. Rangitoto successfully defended the Top Girls Relay School title, further cementing the team’s growing legacy.
Standout powerful performances included 15 individual gold medals, eight from Grayson Coulter, five from Monique Wieruszowski, and two from India Vaughn, along with six relay golds. In total, the team also brought home 12 silver and 13 bronze medals which includes individual medals earned by India Vaughn, Henry Wang, Kezia Buissinne, Amber Lin, Lani Kim, Johan-Albert Vorster, Jonathan Yang and Elwin Bao. Grayson and Monique shattered a combined total of nine New Zealand Age Group Records which is an extraordinary feat, with Grayson alone claiming an incredible eight of them.
These achievements are a testament to our athletes’ skills and talent, as well as the incredible support network that allows them to succeed. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our parent helpers and especially to parent managers Michelle Wyatt and Annabelle Chou, whose dedication throughout the season played a vital role in the team’s success. We also wish the best to our Yr 13 leavers Ania Maritz, Alexis Buissinne, Kezia Buissinne and Monique Wieruszowski and thank you for your contribution to the Rangitoto Swim Team.
