BACK

Work in the school community vegetable garden continued over the winter term. Record numbers of volunteers filled up duty rosters swiftly each term and busily tended our raised beds 3 days per week. Every Tuesday morning, Timea and Ji Hun have faithfully packed up a bag or two of fresh produce for the Windsor Park Foodbank.

A major improvement this year was the addition of a shed which has allowed us to store supplies and tools more easily than before. We are grateful for the generosity of Bunnings Constellation for their donations of fertilisers and seeds. Andrew spearheaded our seed cultivation by nurturing vegetable seedlings till ready for planting. We appreciate on-going support for our garden from Gerry and his team at Knightsbridge Lifestyle Village, who help maintain the garden in the school holidays, donate tools and share their expert gardening tips.

Working in the Community Garden is more than growing plants. We build friendships, gain lifelong gardening skills and make a real impact on our local community through the foodbank.
