Excitement buzzed over King’s Birthday weekend at the NZ Inter Provincial Volleyball Championships, where twenty-six Rangitoto players, both past and present, showcased their exceptional talent throughout both age group and open divisions. The strong contingent from Rangitoto College demonstrated the depth of volleyball talent nurtured at the school.

Leading the charge were Kyson Norton, securing Gold and MVP in the Under 17 Boys, and Molly Caunce, achieving the same prestigious Gold and MVP in the Under 17 Girls. Their teams were further bolstered by gold medallists Gloria Ravutugaga, Nat Campbell, and Keira Webster, with Sienna Hickling Crane earning a spot on the Tournament Team. This incredible showing is a strong indicator of future success for Rangitoto College volleyball!

Adding to the golden haul, Harbour’s senior men and women also claimed gold. Premier coach Johann Timmer delivered a powerful performance on court, while his Rangi co-coach Sam Bell provided expert assistance. Past students Hayley Flatz (now a NZ player), Matty Bell, Ethan Skelton and Lahna Midgley also contributed to Harbour’s golden victories, highlighting the continued impact of Rangitoto alumni on the national stage.

Further successes included Joshua Schuller, Joshua Perks, and Kenae Stevenson, who won silver in the Boys Under 19 division. In the Girls Under 19 division, Jasmine Rugg, Libby Cleaver, Jezariah Holmes, Renhanrui Li, and Alice Bell all won bronze, with Jasmine Rugg also being named in the tournament team for her outstanding play.

Congratulations to all our talented athletes on their remarkable achievements at the IPCs!
