Matariki is known to many as an extra public holiday on the calendar, but in the world of Te Ao Maori is a mark of new beginnings. Rangitoto College celebrates every year with a traditional hāutapu to feed the star, acknowledging our loved ones, reflecting on the past, and making aspirations for the future. It connects us to all the aspects of our world around us and connects us as people. It is a time when we look to the future and reflect on our tupuna beneath the blessings of the cluster of Matariki stars, such as our food, health, and wishes for our future.
