Six Rangitoto bands and three solo/duo acts from our Rock Programme took part in the North Shore Heats of the Smokefree Rockquest in May, with 11 ensembles from our Chamber Programme participating in the NZCT Chamber Music Contest in early June. Mid-June saw our four choirs on the Auckland Town Hall stage for the Big Sing Choral Festival (at the time of writing we are awaiting the results from this event).

Rock & Rocky Road

Take one darkened auditorium and add: café-style seating, two stages, epic lighting effects, stage smoke, spark machine. 

Prepare 7 rock bands, 3 duos, 4 solo acts, a whole bunch of skilled techies, and 4 very entertaining hosts. Combine all ingredients then deliver with delicious slabs of rock road for a very appreciative audience.

With such a winning recipe, this annual rock showcase can’t help but be a raging success year after year!

Jazz Happy Hour & Jazz Club

Our third annual Happy Hour and our tenth Jazz Club were presented to full audiences in our very cool jazz cafe setting – with 4 bands, 8 combos and a staff ensemble taking the stage. These events have such a loyal following, and are always a highlight in the Performing Arts calendar. 

Music at Knightsbridge Village

Ensembles in our Chamber Programme presented two Sunday afternoons of beautiful music at Knightsbridge Village, with three choirs visiting one Thursday afternoon to air their Big Sing repertoire. There was a great turn out from the village residents for all three occasions, and it was lovely to have plenty of parents and siblings of performers in the audience too. 

Concertos & Cookies

On Wednesday 18 June our co-curricular orchestral and concert band ensembles presented their annual Concerto & Cookies showcase. Photos will be included in the next edition.

7pm, Thursday 7 August – A Choral Confection

A delectable evening of sweet music from Rangitoto Choral Programme – featuring our four choirs – The Minuettes, Cambiata, Serenata, and The Fundamentals – interspersed with some surprise vocal items

Tickets – $5 all ages (ticket price includes a sweet treat on arrival)
