Miss Catherine Oh
Hello, my name is Catherine Oh and I am a year 12 that has been elected to be the student representative for the Board of Trustees for 2020. This year (2019), I was the student representative for the Parents and Teachers Association as well as being an Arts Committee member, Rangitoto Red Cross Leader and multiple music section leaders. Outside of school, I was the coordinator of the UNICEF Charity Ball for 2019, of which is completely high-school student led. We raised and donated over $3k for the Children's Hunger Crisis via UNICEF NZ.
At the beginning of this year, I was named as one of the top 25 Academic Scholars of my cohort for my academic excellences in my end of year NCEA Level 1 exams. To this date, I have gained an Excellence Endorsement in both NCEA Level 1 and 2. Additionally, I was one of the three students that were given permission to take Year 12 Calculus as a year 10 in 2017 and thus took the Year 13 Scholarship Calculus course last year and passed with excellences.
In terms of music, I have been a member of the New Zealand Secondary School's Choir since January this year. I also successfully auditioned for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Symphony Orchestra but turned it down for the choral choice. I currently work at Mid-Bays Music Centre where I teach oboe and recorder. At school, I have been a member of Serenata (female choir), The Fundamentals (mixed choir), the orchestra and the Big Band.
