The 2016 school show, Beauty and the Beast, won the following categories at the i-TICKET Showdown Awards last week.
Congratulations to dance students who competed at the Dance event 'GROUNDED'. The piece choreographed by Emma Clelland placed 2nd with junior dancers Lucy Hunt, Emilia Snelgrove, Hannah Salatielu and Tayla White.
Congratulations to the following students who gained a High Distinction Award in the ICAS Competition, which puts them in the top 1% of entrants in Australia and New Zealand:
Congratulations to Jake Lockwood and Matt Morris who have been selected in the New Zealand Schoolboys Water Polo Team.
Congratulations to Ben Gailer and Georgia Chandler who were nominated as the performing artists of the year.
Congratulations to Kayla Reed who was nominated as Sportswoman of the Year 2016.

Emma Cooper-Williams and Sophie Mashlan have had their original songs selected for the annual Play It Strange CD. "Shadow" (by Sophie) and "How This Story Ends" (by Emma) will be professionally recorded and the album will be available later this year on Bandcamp.
Five Rangitoto College students were part of two crews who competed at the World HipHop Championships in Las Vegas recently. Over 50 countries were represented.
Congratulations to The Fundamentals choir who were awarded Silver at the National Finals of the Big Sing Choral Festival in Dunedin.
Congratulations to Zoe Fifield, Year 11, who has been selected as part of the cast for the professional production of Billy Elliot the Musical.
Congratulations to Elim Lin, Christopher Carson, Catherin Oh and Zeke Thornton an receiving High Distinction Awards in ICAS Science. This means that these 4 students are in the Top 1%.
Elim Lin and Christopher Carson will also receive medals as they did exceptionally well.
Approximately 150 students in Rangitoto College bands and orchestras were involved in the 2016 KBB Music Festival.
Over 50 countries competed in the World HipHop Championships in Las Vegas. Rangitoto Students Giverny Hing and Eden Coleman who are part of the New Zealand Megacrew group gained a Bronze Medal.
Emilia Snelgrove, Lucy Hunt and Piani Afu placed 12th overall.

Congratulations to the eight Rangitoto Jazz ensembles who took part in the Auckland Schools Jazz Band Competition over the last 2 weekends.
Five Rangitoto College students have been selected for the KBB Music Festival Honours Orchestra and Concert Band.
