During the holiday, John went to New Caledonia to represent New Zealand in the Oceania Cadet Fencing Championship.
He received a Bronze Medal in the team event.

The Fundamentals and SOS choirs were each awarded Silver at the Big Sing National Finale at the end of August. We couldn't be more proud of our staff and students who gave everything they had throughout the competition.
Our Magnum Dance Company has been selected for Auckland’s Tempo Dance Festival. This festival will take place on Sunday 15th October at the Q Theatre.
Congratulations to all the students who took part in our Annual Piano & Instrumental Competitions on Sunday 6 August 2017. We are delighted to formerly announce the winners of each section as follows:
Isabella was selected via an audition to represent Rangitoto College as a trumpet player in the 2017 National Secondary Schools’ Brass Band.
Olivia received the award for highest scoring Intermediate soloist (for her tap dance solo) at the Whangarei Dance Festival. As Intermediate Champion she was presented with a trophy, a crown and a sash.
Quillan (vocalist) achieved great results at the South Auckland Performing Arts Competitions.
Rangitoto Music Department achieved incredible results at the 2017 KBB Music Festival held from 14 to 19 August. The mammoth effort put in by the staff and students to prepare and execute such fine performances really paid off.
Congratulations to our Jazz musicians who achieved fantastic results at the Auckland Schools Jazz Band Competition which was held across the first three weekends of Term 3.
We entered 4 bands and 5 combos in this competition and we're proud of the results.

Rangitoto College Dance students and staff enjoyed a very successful day at the Dance Brandz Auckland Regional Competition on Saturday 1 July, and came away with some fantastic results.
Amy Hsu (Yr 13 student in 2013) has been selected as one of the semi-finalists in the prestigious 2017 Wallace National Piano Competition on 13 to 16 July.
