Why do we need a Development Office?
The reality is - that education in NZ is not free.
Rangitoto College is classed as a decile 10 school. The government funding to Rangitoto College is approx. 2 million less than what a decile 1 school receives and whilst we try to be as efficient as possible in running the school, we need your support to continue to provide the world class education that you want for your son or daughter.
Traditional sources of money are no longer able to provide enough funding to continue to provide World Class education and maintain the resources we need. However we make no excuses for not wanting to compromise the quality of education to our students – in fact we take the responsibility very seriously, which is why the role of the Development Office is now more critical than ever before.
The School Motto…..Circumspice… (Look Around You) is also very appropriate right now. Whilst the motto may have originated due to the physical surroundings of the school (being on top of the hill and a significant landmark), it seems now that “Looking Around You” is about looking outside the square and thinking of ways to raise profile and funds outside the traditional methods.
Although many private schools have created Development Offices, very few public schools have considered this role as an option….however who better to do that than Rangitoto College –
- A College that is rated as one of the top 5 schools nationally at all academic achievement levels
- A College that actively supports students in performing to their highest ability in sports, arts and cultural activities at both national and international levels
- A College that attracts and retains high quality teaching and support staff
- A College that networks with other national and international educational institutions to benchmark our own performance and promote global awareness
- A College that celebrates participation, promotes the pursuit of excellence and through this fosters respect for self and others
